Patient Comfort

A small amount of solution is injected via a fine needle into the area being treated. The sensation is likened to an insect bite. Often local anaesthetic is not required, however after consultation with you your Doctor may choose to numb the area to minimize any discomfort you may experience.

Treatment takes approximately 15 minutes depending on the number of areas being treated. After treatment you can resume normal activities, however you are advised to avoid strenuous exercise, sun and heat exposure and alcoholic beverages for 24 hours after treatment. Exposure to any of the above may cause temporary redness, swelling and /or itching at the injection site.

How long does it last?

The effects last up to 4months. The results are usually evident about three days after treatment although can take up to 1-2 weeks. If you have a repeat treatment, the results generally last longer than the first time. The more treatments you have, the longer the effects of subsequent injections.

Are there any specific instructions to follow after treatment?

It is important not to rub the injection site for several hours after treatment as this may cause the compound to spread into adjacent muscles.

Are there any risks?

Swelling may be experienced at the injection site. If this occurs, it will generally resolve within a day or so. Bruising is uncommon but may occur. Bruising may persist for several days.

Can other procedures be performed at the same time?

This product is only effective for wrinkles that are caused by muscle contraction; other treatments can be used concurrently, such as dermal fillers, or laser resurfacing, to achieve the results you desire.
